Make-up artist and hair stylist Valerie Hernandez is living her dream. From her humble beginnings watching her aunts style hair in her hometown of El Paso to the glamour of Hollywood, Valerie has used a combination of hard work, knowledge and passion for the industry to become a highly sought-after make-up and hair stylist.
Growing up under the hot sun of Phoenix, Valerie fell in love with the vibrant colors that surrounded her Spanish culture. After going back to Texas to graduate from cosmetology school in 2000, Valerie combined this love for color, with her unique ability to excel at both make-up and hair style to establish herself in the industry.
Valerie arrived in Los Angeles nine years ago with little more than the big dreams she acquired growing up practicing pedicures, hair and makeup on everyone from her elders to younger cousins. While she already had her cosmetology license, it was attending the prestigious Westmore Academy of Cosmetic Arts in Burbank in 2003 that really made an imprint on her career developing a wide array of skills in make-up artistry, cosmetology, hair art , special effects, runway and avant garde.
After graduating from the Westmore Academy, Valerie began working at Cinema Secrets Beauty Supply where she met owner Maurice Stein, as well as many of the top professionals who would help start her career. These connections increased her love and passion for beauty and eventually led to her assisting some of the world's top make-up artists in the Television and Motion Picture Industry.
As a well respected instructor, Valerie helped introduce the beauty industry to the benefits of mineral makeup during her years as Youngblood Cosmetics' lead educator and make-up artist.
Valerie's talents have led to her working with many of Hollywood's famous faces including Kelly LeBrock, Margaret Cho, Jennifer Tilly, Lindsay Lohan, Electra Avellan, Leven Rambin, Lydia Hearst, Britney Snow and Casey and Kyle Loza. She has worked on projects and fashion shows for many top designers at both LA and New York Fashion Week.Valerie currently works out of a private studio in the heart of Downtown LA's Arts District where she creates and customizes hair and makeup art as well as custom jewelry.
